Frillesås

Frillesås is a parish of the west of the Sweden, located at the north of the county of Halland, in the extreme south of the territory of the common of Kungsbacka. Its surface is of 4.553 hectares.

Toponym

The toponym of the parish is attested as of 1559 in the form Fridlessos . A local tradition tries to explain it in the following way: with the the Middle Ages, the king Danish Fridlef would have been killed there in a ambush then buried under a Tumulus. It would be this tumulus, indicated under the name of Fridlefs ås (height of Fridlef), which would have then given its name to the parish.
