Frigidity

The frigidity (of Latin frigidus , which is cold) is a concept which is not inevitably precise: the usual meaning indicates the absence of pleasure at the time of the sexual relationships. That can concern the men or the women, but it is considered that it is a disorder which reaches primarily the women.

For some, a woman " frigide" is that which does not arrive at the Orgasme (one speaks then about Anorgasmie). But this concept even is delicate: a woman who reaches the orgasm by Masturbation, but not at the time of the Pénétration is " frigide" ?

This question returns us to the current design of what is the sexuality: it is underlain by the idea that the sexual activity of reference is the coitus heterosexual. For holding of the theory of Freud, only the vaginal orgasm would be a mature orgasm, the only true orgasm. One realizes today that this design of the female pleasure did much evil: Masters and Johnson showed, since, who there exists physiologically one type of orgasm, i.e. the physiological reaction is always same (contractions) whatever the stimulation which starts it (clitoris, vagina, chest, kisses, phantasms, dreams…)

Actually, the women who know the orgasm by exclusive vaginal stimulation are statistically very rare. To speak about frigidity, therefore of anomaly, for the most frequent situation altogether seems abusive today.

Lastly, is this truly the orgasm which is the witness of the pleasure of the women? The enquiring ones currently dispute this design: not to have an orgasm, for a woman, inevitably does not mean not to have pleasure. One then sees how much this concept of " frigidité" is fuzzy: absence of pleasure, orgasm, in which circumstances?

To that the question of the desire is added: for others, a woman " frigide" is that which does not react to sexual stimulations. Is this then the pleasure which is lacking to him, or the desire?

History

In the 18th century, the word frigidity appeared in the Dictionary of medical sciences: it indicated the Impuissance of the man, at the time. This definition evolved/moved thereafter, as we saw.

Others

For the remainder, frigidity is rather shown among women nowadays. It is difficult for a man to include/understand this frame of mind because it can often sexually benefit from the moment present. Then let us let to the psychological specialists see psychiatrists working to be able to arrive in a state " normal" of the person concerned. In a word if the problem remains in the head of sound " amie" and can be neat only by qualified people having followed an educational course in connection with their profession, not of doubts, it is necessary to let make the specialists.

An ice-cold woman must be regarded as a woman being able to be cured either by her " amant" in the emerging cases or is by its therapeutist according to the level of negationnism or it is at one moment T.

Even compared to the thought of Coluche which said: There are no ice-cold women. There is only malicious gossip, we must be attentive with this problem scour.
