Friends of the Earth

The Amis of the Earth ( Friends off the Earth ) is a Governmental organization of protection of the Man and Environnement which is at the same time democratic and interdependent. Association with nonlucrative goal independent of all political power or religious. Present in the whole world, it is active in 72 countries and is mobilized against the environmental and social problems current to promote changes towards a durable company. The Friends of the Earth form the first network world ecologist.

Friends of the Earth France

Since its creation in 1970, it took part in the foundation of the movement ecologist in France. Sign times: at the time of its beginnings in France, the adjective ecologist was still unknown general public and one indicated it, for lack of term more adapted, under the name of alarmist organization . A collective awakening emerged since, especially starting from the medium of the Années 1970 (oil slick, oil crisis, work of the Club of Rome). Association belongs to the networks Sortir the nuclear power, Réseau Action Climate (RAC) and are founding members of ATTAC and it implied much for protection of the primary and old forests and in favor of the forest ecocertification via in particular the ethical open-market purchase (In 2006, approximately 25% of the wood imported into France were intended for the government contracts, and only 1 to 2% of this quantity éco-was certified. The Friends of the Earth are also since 2005 members of CRID (Research center and of information on the development) in which they are only association ecologist, their presence allowing to associate an environmental shutter with the related questions the development of the countries of the South. Since 2006, the Friends of the Earth are also members of Alliance for the planet.

Its objectives

To fight against the degradation of the planet

To find the means of making good the damage caused with the environment, at least most serious;

To preserve ecological , social diversity everywhere, cultural in the world;

To increase the participation of the civil society and democratic control in the collective processes of decision making;

To translate in the facts the principles of economic Social justice, and policy, as well as the access and equal opportunity to the resources for the women and the men;

To promote a Sustainable development respectful of the environment.
