Biography

It was, at the end of the Années 1990, one of the idolatrées Japanese singers (it sold more 8 500 000 albums and individual between 1998 and 2000). Its album “ Amigo ” with a style of music pop had become a true social phenomenon, corresponding perfectly to the Japanese company.

Then, following financial problems with its recording company, the parents of Amigo decide to attack Sony Corporation in justice. Friend leaves victorious this lawsuit, in counterpart the career of the artist suddenly stops at the top of his glory in 2000. From now on excluded from all the musical events, Friend, for much, made his time.

However, thanks to its temperament of beating, Ami fine 2004 assembles, using the money which it gained during the lawsuit, its own recording company Amity to produce individual “the Forever Coils ”. This one will pass completely unperceived (with only 17 000 sold specimens), but the representatives of the recording company Avex trax will be interested by the artist and will propose a contract to him.

However, not knowing how the public will accommodate the artist, avex decides to propose a title, written by Ami, in paid downloading. “ Hopeful ”, title in extreme cases of the Techno and the Trance, will attract crowd. Following these encouraging results, the career of Friend at avex trax begins officially the March 24th 2005 with its first individual, “ Delightful ”. The new style of Friend is much less commercial than the precedent, but it corresponds to him more, “ Delightful ” is in the same line as “ Hopeful ”, very dynamic, very electro title. With 97 000 sold specimens and the 2nd place of the Oricon, Ami Suzuki finds its place on the market of the Japanese disc.

Friend then connects the individual ones with “ Eventful ”, 3rd title techno of the singer, sold with 40 000 specimens, then “ Negaigoto ”, Ballade illustrating the history of Friend, of which only 22 000 specimens will find taking. She will also renew the experiment of the paid downloading with “ For yourself ”, pop title which approaches more its old career.

To concretize all that, its first album at avex trax : “ Around the World ”, the October 12th 2005 leaves. Success is not really with go, only 35 000 copies are past the first week (Friend is inopportunely competed with by Kumi Kōda, which marketed its first best-of a few front weeks). However, the album receives good criticisms and is a sufficiently important popular success to make it possible the artist to make a round of three dates to promote its first album.

Its hardly finished round, Ami connects with its 5th individual: “ Little Hook ”. In spite of a homogeneous quality, it does not seem to interest the public. Its 6th individual “ Fantastic ”, as well as the DVD in its concert “ Friendly Suzuki around the world - Live house tower 2005 ” left the February 8th 2006. It left its 7th individual “ Alright! ” the May 17th 2006. It is a title very involving, especially on arrival of the summer. Its 8th individual “ Like has Love? ” is announced for the July 26th 2006.
