Friedrichshafen

Friedrichshafen is a city on the northern edge of the Lac of Constancy ( Bodensee ) in the south of the Germany, close to the borders with the Suisse and the Austria.

It is the capital of the district Bodenseekreis in the Land of the Bade-Wurtemberg to the 47° 39 ' 03" North, 9° 28 ' 32" Is; population 57  680 (2004).

The city is famous for the companies of aviation Dornier and Zeppelin. In the beginning the hangar of floating assembly could be more easily aligned with the wind for the take-off.

The visitors can learn some more on the Zeppelin history by visiting the museum close to the edge of the lake. versions NT can be rented for air walks.

Air construction brought prosperity during the first third of the 20th century but attracted also the air raids combined at the end of the Second world war which destroyed the historical center.

During the Cold war, the city shelters an important garrison of the French Forces in Germany.

Services of cross bars/ferries serve various cities around the lake in particular Romanshorn in Switzerland.
