Friedrich Franz IV von Mecklenburg-Schwerin

Friedrich Franz IV or Frederic-François IV (April 9th 1882 with Palermo - November 17th 1945 with Flensburg) was the last Large-duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, it reigned since the death of his/her father in 1897 (until its majority in 1901 its uncle Johann Albrecht zu Mecklenburg ensured regency) until the November 13rd 1918.

Friedrich Franz IV married Alexandra, Prinzessin von Hannover und Cumberland (Girl of Ernest-Auguste II of Hanover), they had five children:

  • Frederic François V of Mecklembourg-Schwerin (1910-2001), large-duke titualire of Mecklembourg

  • Christian Ludwig (1912-1996), duke of Mecklembourg-Scwerin, in 1954 it married Barbara of Prussia, deceased in 1994, (girl of Sigismond of Prussia)
  • Olga (1916-1917)
  • Thyra (1919-1981)
  • Anastasia (1922-1979), in 1943, she married Frederic d' Oldenbourg

Biography

After the suicide of his relative and last directing line of the princes of Mecklembourg-Strelitz, the Large-duke Adolphe-Frederic VI of Mecklembourg-Strelitz, it also managed this duchy until the German Révolution. After its renunciation of the Throne the November 14th - it was one of the last monarchs besides German, four days after the abdication of the Kaiser Guillaume II - it emigrated with the Denmark.
