Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg

The university of Erlangen-Nuremberg , Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (German) is created in 1743 under the Latin name of Academiae Friderico Alexandrinae with Erlangen. It is currently the larger second Université in Bavaria, with 11 faculties gathering 265 pulpits.

It was founded in 1742 with Bayreuth by the Margrave Friedrich of Brandebourg - Bayreuth under the name of Friedrichs-Universität. As of the following year, in 1743, the university is transferred to Erlangen. It counts 4 faculties then: Protestant theology, jurisprudence, medicine and philosophy. In 1769, the Principality of Bayreuth to which Erlangen belongs master key under the control of Karl Alexander, Margrave of Brandebourg - Ansbach. It strongly takes part in the development of the university which re-elects the same year in Friedrich-Alexander-Universität.

The matters are distributed in two buildings: faculties of social sciences, economic and educational are located at Nuremberg. All other faculties are located at Erlangen.
