Fréon was an editor of Cartoon alternate Belgian founded in 1994 by Thierry Van Hasselt, Vincent Fortemps, Denis Deprez, Olivier Deprez, Jean-Christophe Long and Olivier Poppe and which amalgamated with Amok in the Frémok in 2001.

History

In their exit of the School of Saint-Luc, Thierry Van Hasselt, Cincent Fortemps, Denis and Olivier Deprez, Jean-Christophe Long and Olivier Poppe noting that the Belgian traditional editors did not agree with their narrative desires, take part in 1992 in the creation of the review Frigorevue (Refrigerator productions) which doubles into 1994 of Frigibox (Freon). This one becomes a publisher in 1997 with the partution of the Nébulaires of Denis Deprez. Then, the editor publishes a few tens of albums. At the end of 2001, Fréon amalgamates with Amok, in order to be able to face the crisis of overproduction of the cartoon.

Objectives

The founders of Frémok, themselves authors, in the tradition of the alternate band dessiéne, combined with a great formal concern “a will to think on the cartoon of each level of construction, that it is the drawing, the writing, the structure of the account” around the idea of “narrative image”.
