One Rusk day goes to the agency of Brenda and wildly strangles it with its tie, lack of being little made surprise by Richard. This last is seen by the secretary of the victim, badly laid out in its connection - Richard Blaney passes for an odious alcoholic and violent one, and it had come to make a scene the day before. It becomes logically the suspect number one, of many evidence overpower it. He discovers by the press that he is the principal suspect and escapes from little from an arrest. His/her Babs friend, waitress in the pub of which it was made return, and who preserves to him his confidence persuaded of his innocence, assistance in his escape.
Blaney hides and Babs must find it the following day to leave England while waiting for that the things are packed. But Rusk succeeds in convincing Babs, part to recover businesses, to accept its assistance (he is customer of the pub and it knows that he knows Richard well), he invites it at his place and kills it. Richard Blaney only finds himself, all the police forces seek it and he is more and more the ideal culprit. The only person of which he thinks that he can still obtain from the assistance, it is Rusk, which always proposed to do everything to help it where necessary. Rusk accepts immediately, it takes along Richard at his place to hide it but directly will prevent the police force. Blaney is thus stopped. But Rusk wanting to charge it still more, put clothing which Babs wore the day of its death in the bag of Richard. For the police force it is a new proof, but for Blaney it in is another: it knows from now on that Rusk is the maniac with the tie who killed his ex-wife, his boyfriend and well of others. However all the evidence is against him and with its lawsuit the court recognizes it guilty and condemns it to the prison with perpetuity.
Whereas one takes it along in his cell it does not cease shouting that it is innocent and that Rusk is the killer. The police inspector is disturbed by the eagerness of Blaney to protest his innocence after his lawsuit and in spite of the evidence which overpowers it. He thus decides to inquire into Rusk.
