French territory of Afars and Issas
The French territory of Afars and Issas is the name given to the territory of current République of Djibouti during the French Colonisation between 1967 and independence in 1977.
This name took into account the two majority populations autochtones of the territory: the Afars and the Issas. It succeeded name Territoires of Obock and French Côte of Somalis.
In an anecdotic way, the seat of senator of the Territory of Afars and Issas remained until in 2004 (vacant seat), because no electoral law had taken into account the independence of Djibouti in 1977.
