French observatory of the media
The French Observatoire of the media is an association with nonlucrative goal affiliated at the International observatory of the media.
Association is related to the movement Altermondialiste. One can quote among his founders ATTAC, Acrimed, Philippe Cohen and Ignacio Ramonet.
The concept of this association was invented with the Worldwide social forum of Porto Alegre in 2002. The International observatory of the media estimates that the Médias do not ensure any more their role of countervailing power, because they constitute nothing any more but one vector of the néo-liberal Mondialisation . By defending the values altermondialists, he intends to protect the company against the abuses from the great media, to defend information like public property and to assert the right to know of the citizens.
Observatories of the affiliated media are created in certain cities in France (Besancon, Grenoble, Nantes)
