French highway A1

The A1 (also called Highway of North ) is the most attended French highway, connecting Paris to Lille.

The highway serves the northern suburbs of Paris, with the Stade de France, Le Bourget, the Aéroport Roissy-Charles-of-Gaulle the Parc Astérix. Then it crosses the Picardy without directly meeting the big cities of this area, in parallel with the Northern LGV .

Halfway between Amiens and Saint-Quentin, to approximately 120 km of Paris on the level of the surface of Assevillers, largest of Europe, it crosses the A29. A few tens of kilometers further the highway is divided and given rise to the A2 (called Paris - Brussels). It carries on its road until Lille, crossed by the A26 then the A21.
