French federation of the schools of circus

History

In 1988, the National federation of the Schools of Circus (FNEC) was born. It was renovated in 1994 with the approval of the State to give the French federation of the Schools of Circus (FFEC).

It gathers today more than 150 school S of circus. Each year, it Co-organizes National meetings of the Schools of Circus with a Regional Federation of the School of the Circus.

Prepared formations and diplomas

Patent of initiator to arts of circus (B.I.A.C.);
Patents of specialization to arts of circus (B.I.S.AC.);
Diplomas of state of teacher training (BPJEPS " activities of the cirque" and OF teacher of arts of the circus (in progress)) ;
Preparatory classes with the trades of arts of the circus;
artistic Formations
Training courses (safety, pedagogy, health, administrative).

The Regional Federations of the Schools of Circus (FREC) represent the regional levels of the FFEC. Gathered around 13 structures, they animate the regional network of the schools; they offer various formations; they ensure finally the relationships to the local political authorities

New Tracks

Since 2004, the FFEC sets up a professional springboard baptized the " Pistes" news; , in collaboration with festival CIRCA. The pupils of the training centres thus have opportunity of presenting their work to many people: festival, artists, journalists, organizers of cultural projects… At the conclusion of this springboard, the young artists are brought to occur in other festivals under the label of the " Pistes" news;.

Approvals

Approvals have as an ambition to accompany the structures in a step by progress; they point out at the same time the law, give the recommendations of the Federation (engagements) and propose practical or informative tools. Only the associative structures, the SCOP (working cooperative society of production), the SCIC (Cooperative society of collective interest), the territorial collectivities and the establishments with public finance can claim with an application.

The FFEC distinguishes 2 levels from practices:

- Practical amateur: They are the schools or the workshops of arts of the mono or multi-field circus. These workshops can be organized over variable durations for the direct members of the structure or in relation to another structure: sociocultural school or, specialized establishment, vacation center or of leisures…

- Training center: They gather the preparatory classes, the artistic and teaching formations preparing with the trades of arts of the circus.

5 fundamental criteria are checked before an attribution of approval:

Pedagogy: Each structure has a teaching project built around the educational project of the FFEC and including/understanding an artistic shutter.

" The circus is Article It is taught in the respect of the personne".

Formation: It is a question of ensuring a teaching of quality. This principle passes by a formation adapted for framing arts of the circus.

Health: It is necessary to make it possible to develop physical qualities of the individual in the long-term respect of the potential of each one.

Safety: There does not exist " small sécurité" for a " small école" nor of " large sécurité" for a " large école".

Administrative: the compliance of the law and the administrative rules guarantees the viability of our long-term structures.

BPJEPS speciality " activities of the cirque"

A new diploma has just been created: the Professional Patent of Youth, Popular education and the Sport, speciality " activities of the cirque". Approved on level IV (Baccalaureat), can be prepared in initial training or continuous. Soon, a more complete presentation of the BPJEPS will be available on line.
