French federation of football

The French federation of football (FF) is a French association founded law 1901 the April 7th 1919 under the name of French federation of football association (FF) by transformation of the French Comité interfédéral created into 1907 gathering the clubs of Football of France and organizing national competitions and the international matches of the selection of France.

It is affiliated with FIFA since 1907 under the name of CFI when it succeeded USFSA, member founder in 1904.

Role of the FF

Organization

The French federation of football has as a role:
  • to organize, develop and control the teaching and the practice of football, in all its forms, by players of different statutes, in France, on the metropolitan territory and in the departments and overseas territories,
  • to create and maintain a bond between its individual members, the clubs affiliated, its districts, its regional leagues, the federal League of football amateur and the Professional football league,
  • to defend the moral and material interests French football,
  • to maintain all relationships useful to foreign associations affiliated for FIFA, sporting organizations national and them public authorities.

Competitions

The FF delegates to the League management professional football (Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and Coupe of the League), but the League, founded in 1944, remains under the authority of the Federation.

The Coupe de France is placed under the authority of a Commission of the Coupe de France, directly attached to the FF. The FF also organizes all the other competitions in national matter, of the Championships of France amateurs (National, CFA 1 and CFA 2), the female championships of France (D1, D2 and D3), the championships of young people and corpos, mainly.

At the regional and local level, the Leagues and the districts take over FF, but always authority of the latter.

It should be noted that even the clubs tahitiens and calédoniens take part in the Coupe de France. The Magenta ACE (New Caledonia), for example, took share with the 7th tower of the Coupe de France 2005-2006. Eliminated 4-0 by the GSI Pontivy.
