French federation of Bridge

The French federation of bridge (BFR) is a Association of law 1901 which, according to its statutes, " has as a function the organization and the development of the Bridge in all its forms in France and ensures the representation of the French bridge the international." plan;

History

The principal sponsors of the BFR are the General society and Generali.

The BFR tries to obtain, like the French federation of the failures, the approval of “sporting federation” near the Ministère of youth and the sports.

Organization

The French federation of Bridge gathers, in 2007,110.000 bachelors in 1204 clubs. The clubs are gathered in 29 committees on geographical criteria: Paris, Orléanais, the Pyrenees for example. These committees are gathered in 12 leagues. At the top, association is managed by an executive office and a management committee. Yves Aubry is the president. One estimates at 2,5 million the number of bridge players in France.

The BFR belongs to the European Bridge League and to the World Bridge Federation .

Classification

According to their results, the players are divided into 4 series (4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st series). 4th, 3rd and 2nd series comprise the under-classifications clover, square, heart, spade and promotion. The 1st series comprises the under-classifications clover, square, heart, spade and national. A new player thus starts not classified to become 4th series clover or more. The best classification is 1st series national, which accounts for approximately 0,1% of the bachelors.

Competitions

The BFR organizes tournaments and competitions played into simultaneous in all the clubs and equipped in points with experts (EP) and in points with performance (PP), which determine a national classification.

Certain tournaments are simultaneous in many clubs:

  • the rounds General society.
  • the super rounds General society.

Among the official competitions, there exist the following categories:

  • Juniors, Juniors (less than 25 years) or Seniors (60 years and more)
    • mixed
  • Ladies, Sirs or
  • Open
  • by level: National divisions, Excellence, Honor, Promotion, Hope.
  • per pairs or teams of four.
  • University
  • Corporative (by 4)
  • Coupe de France (by 4)
  • Interclubs (by 4), in 4 divisions.

The majority of these tests are organized on the level of the committees, of the leagues and national.

Thus each year ago more than one hundred of champions of France.

For the first time in 2006 a woman reached the first place of the classification of the French bridge players: Catherine d' Ovidio. She is also first with female world classification.

Building sites

The BFR has launched for a few years of many building sites for redynamiser the bridge to France:

  • Teaching of the bridge in the schools and colleges
  • Support for the clubs of juniors in university or universities.
  • Launching of a platform of online game on Internet.
  • Launching of modules of discovered bridge to attract new players.
