French education in Ontario
French education in Ontario is a summary of what occurred in education in French language for the province of Ontario.
History
The French-speaking history in Ontario began as soon as Etienne Brûlé mixed with the Huron ones. Education, before the time of the institutionalized schools, was especially made in an oral way. The storytellers were very popular to transmit knowledge from generation to generation. Even today, this form of expression still forms part of the popular culture of French Ontario. Radio-Canada Ontario published, until very recently, of the tales during its advertizing breaks.
Nowadays
Since the creation of school councils of French language in Ontario, the free-Ontarians of the province have a choice of schools being distinguished especially on the religious/laic basis.
The Councils public
The councils public (which do not teach a dominant religion) have four school councils:

the school Council of district of the Center-South-West;
- the school Council of the district of the Large-North of Ontario;
- the public school Council of the North-East of Ontario;
- the Council of the public schools of the East of Ontario
The catholic Councils
The catholic councils (which are subsidized by the government but are based on a catholic teaching) have seven school councils:
