French cantonal elections of 1985

The cantonal elections take place March 10th and 17th 1985.

Results

Success of the right-wing opposition (RPR and UDF), which gains ten new presidencies of general advices, drawing up the power struggle with 69 departments for the line on 95. The failure of the socialist outgoing presidents Louis Mermaz in the Isere and André Laignel in the Indre is the most outstanding examples of the new retreat of the left (PS and PCF mainly).
