The freeride consisted in at its origin practicing a sport (Ski, Snowboard, VTT, Motocyclette, scooter of snows, etc) out of any formal framework, generally associated with the pleasure of virgin natural big spaces, the taking risk and the absence of competition. Freeride of some nature that it is an extreme sport which requires an intense physical effort. With the passing of years, the economy helping, the various disciplines ended up being formatted. Today, there exists specific material, competitions, professional freeriders as well as places arranged for a practice of mass.

This practice should not be confused with the Freestyle , which consists in making figures.
