Freemasonry in Senegal

Imported Europe, the existence of a freemasonry in Senegal is little known.

History

The first maconnic Loge was created by the Grand the East in 1781 with Saint-Louis.

Blaise Diagne, first African deputy elected with the French National Assembly in 1914, had become freemason in 1899. In its memory a cabin Blaise Diagne was founded with Dakar in 1977.

In a Moslem country mainly , freemasonry ran up against islamist integrist.

In 2007, there would be 200 active freemasons with the Senegal, in particular of young followers.
