Freemasonry in Romania

After the fall of the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, former surviving freemasons of the Communist regime, met on December 27th, 1989 with Bucharest in the old Temple of the street Radu of Afumati by inviting various personalities to discover the secrecies of freemasonry.

In October 1990, in Paris, of exiled Rumanian constituted the national Big room of Romania ( Marea Loja Nationala has Romaniei ). This first Big room consists of three cabins: Steaua Dunarii (Star of the Danube), Romania Unita (plain Romania) and Solidaritatea (Solidarity, and it is Alexandru Paleologu, then ambassador from Romania in Paris, which is elected Grand Master.

In May 1991, the cabin Humanitas is established in Bucharest by the Grand the East of France.

In February 1991, the first regular cabin Concordia is established in Bucharest by plain Big room of England, via the the Great East of Italy (assisted French national Big room and Big room of Austria). Since 1992, two other cabins are created allowing, on January 24th, 1993 the constitution of the national Big room of Romania ( Marea Loja Nationala DIN Romania ). Dissensions appear quickly, and 13 regular cabins create a District Transilvania . In March 1996, with some cabins of French obedience, the District Transilvania constitutes the plain Big room of Romania .

In 1997, the two supreme councils meet.

In July 2000, the plain Big room of Romania and the national Big room of Romania try a union which will not be done.

In 2003, the National Big room in Romania and the National Big room of Romania federate with his of the Conféderata Marilor Loji DIN Romania de Rit Scotian Antic if Acceptat .

Today, on the Rumanian territory six groupings function maconnic:

  • the national Big room of Romania ( Marea Loja has Romaniei ).
  • the Big room (national) plain of Romania ( Marea Loja Nationala Unita DIN Romania ).
  • the female Big room of Romania ( Marea Loja Feminina has Romaniei ).
  • the Great East of Romania ( Hopscotch the East Al Romaniei ).
