Freemasonry in Chile

It is in the port of Valparaiso that is founded, on July 7th, 1850, the first cabin with the Chile. They are emigrated French craftsmen working in this port who open the Cabin the Star of the Pacific . Three years later, it gives rise to one second Cabin Fraternal Union , purely Chilean; other cabins will open in the country thereafter.

May 24th, 1862, the cabins Fraternal Union and Progress of Valparaiso, Order and Liberté of Copiapó and Fraternité of Conception separates from the Grand the East of France and constitutes the first Chilean maconnic power, the Big room of Chile . Ramón Allende Padín, father of Salvador Allende, was one of the first Large Masters in 1884.

The Chilean masons had a significant activity in the history of Chile. They were the promoters of the independence of the country, as manufacturers of the bases of the republican system and promoters of the political and socio-economic development of the country until today.

Several presidents of the republic belonged to masonry such as Arturo Alessandri Palma, Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Gabriel González Videla, Carlos Ibáñez del Campo and Salvador Allende Gossens.

The Big room of Chile

It is the oldest maconnic organization of the République of Chile. In 1906, a seism destroyed the seat and the files of the Big room. It settled with Santiago of Chile, with the club of the Republic, its current seat.

The Big room was on the initiative of the construction of the University `' the Republic'' and certain cabins still support colleges.

Currently it counts 207 cabins and 15 triangles.

Chilean Jurisdiction of the Human right

International Mixed the Maçonnique Order the " Right Humain" its first Chilean cabin in 1927 installed.

The Chilean Jurisdiction of the " Right Humain" is currently made up of 5 cabins, with Santiago where it with its seat and Valparaiso.

The Mixed Big room of Chile

On the initiative of brothers of the Big room of Chile wanting to found co-education and with the assistance of Curuppumulaje Jinarajadasa, member of the the Supreme Mixed Universal Council " Right Humain" a mixed cabin is created in 1929, taking the name of Igualdad (Equality).

In 1932,5 cabins, in Santiago and Valparaiso, are under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Mixed Universal Council " Right Humain" in Paris. In 1933 they obtain the right to constitute of Chilean Federation.

Continuing its development, this federation of mixed cabins obtains, in 1954, its independence of the Supreme Council and is constituted in mixed Order maconnic of Chile. The Mixed name of Big room of Chile will be adopted in the Seventies.

Currently it counts about fifty cabins including five with the Peru.

It is member of CLIPSAS.

The Great Chilean Maçonnique East

August 1st CLIPSAS is adherent since 2004.

The female Big room of Chile

The first female cabin Araucaria n°1 was created on January 11th, 1970. This cabin, with three other male cabins constituted the Metropolitan Big room of Chile .

Until 1983, the sisters maintained the activity of their only cabin and created another cabin Araucaria n°2 and a triangle Armonia .

It is only into 1983 that was born the female Big room from Chile with the assistance of the Grand the East of Mexico.

The Great Latin-American East

Following the Coup d'etat of September 11th, 1973 in Chile of Augusto Pinochet a Grand the East of Chile in exile is created abroad which will become the Grand the Latin-American East (GOLA) with a license of the Grand the East of France.

The GOLA has 4 cabins in Chile.
