Free midday

free Midi is a newspaper French regional newspaper, whose seat is with Saint-Jean-with-Védas, close to Montpellier. It is diffused in the area Languedoc-Roussillon and the department of l´ Aveyron.

History

free Midi is published for the first time the August 27th 1944 at the time of the Libération of Montpellier; it is then the “body of the regional committee of the liberation movement main road” as its subtitle indicates it. This first number reports in particular the arrival of the general de Gaulle with Paris.

It was founded by Jean Bène, mayor of Pézenas and chair Committee of Release of the Herault. The new company uses the buildings of 12 rue d'Alger and the means of impression of the newspapers the Flash and the Small Southerner which was prohibited to be diffused under the Occupation.

The premises of the undertaking were moved with Saint-Jean-with-Védas, in the outskirts of the city of Montpellier, close to a9 highway. The grounds did not miss at the time, which made it possible to build there the buildings necessary to the news and roomy Rotative S.

The current majority shareholder is the group the Life it Monde. free Midi is one of the titles of a regional group (Newspapers of the South), with Center Presses aveyronais and Independent the Catalan.
