Free college of social sciences
In 1895, in the context of the business Dreyfus, of many intellectuals supporters of Dreyfus create the Free College of Social sciences around Dick May (of its true name Jeanne Weill, girl of the Chief rabbi of Algiers). Dick May, also cousin of Karl Marx which had initiated it with the economy, is confronted thus with the University by creating the first teaching of social sciences in France. T. Funk-Brentano, which seems it takes part in the foundation of the college, will be professor. Delbet, Ernest, founding member (1895) and director (1895 - 1903) of the free College of social sciences where it ensures a course of Sociologie (1895 - 1906).
Five years later, the dash of the first builders is confirmed with the creation of three schools resulting from the college of 1895: the School of the High Social Studies, the School of the High International studies and especially the School of Journalism (in 1899, by Dick May), which receives the immediate support of the great names of the press like Henri Fouquier and Jules Cornély. The first international congress of the teaching of social sciences is entitled " creation of a social teaching international" with place with the college from July 30th to August 3rd 1900.
