Free Sample Zone

Free Sample Zone is a forgery Netlabel created by Chenard Walcker in January 2005, to position against the law of the copyright.

Free Sample movement

The idea to create Free Sample Zone was inspired by the notes of small pockets of individual of The Fuzz (the United States) left in 1994, God Bless The Radio . The group explained why they refused to pay royalties for the use of Sample S:

“We are sickened by the iron claw off greed and creative paranoia which is slowly sealing its cruching grip one pumping heart off the most, mind-blowing, slack-sausage stiffening soundz being born in modern music today. In simpler words, the growing trend off charging mad amounts and/or taking songs rights and royalties for the uses samples is BULLSHIT off. ”

They encouraged the other artists to follow their movement, but had any success, neither with their music, nor with the Free Sample movement .

Free Sample Zone

Ten years later, Chenard decided to create a Netlabel which would publish artists engaged against the law of the copyright. It called logically it Free Sample Zone , and contacted the original members of The Fuzz to propose to them to publish God Bless The Radio under a license Creative Commons (this license makes it possible to divide works free, by protecting them from any commercial exploitation by a third). The Fuzz gave him their agreement.

An intense activity of the label was followed from there: FSZ published more than 50 albums in less than 2 years, the credited half with Chenard Walcker , other half being the fruit of the work of many activists of the Collage such Oscar And The Jets (the United States), The Walcker Crew (Turkey), Nelson , The Sand , Run , Rapeurs Without Tête (France) and I Martelli Pneumatici (Italy). Chenard also worked with the poet Roy Arad (Israel) on some albums.

All the albums are downloadable free in the shape of a file zip including the titles Mp3 and the small pockets face, backs and CD ready with the impression and folding. The music is published under license Creative Commons.
