Free Manzecchi

Franco Manzecchi is Batteur of Jazz born with Ravenne (Italy) September 10th, 1931, and died in Constance (Germany) on March 25th, 1979.

Biography

Free Manzecchi works with Paris since 1957 in particular with Tony Scott, Bill Coleman (1 disc), Mezz Mezzrow, Gift Byas, Bud Powell & Pierre Michelot, Guy Lafitte (1 disc), Rene Urtreger, Lou Bennett & Jimmy Gourley (1 disc of Bennett with the young person Philip Catherine in 1966), Jack Diéval with Eric Dolphy & Donald Byrd (recording for the radio which left on compact thereafter), then with the large Rene Thomas (disc " You with Jack Diéval" release;) and also Lucky Thompson (turned to Italy), Chet Baker (recording 1964 with Urtreger for the tele Belgian which left on compact in 1992 and DVD in 2006 thereafter), Dionne Warwick (Belgium, with Nathan Davis), Memphis Slim, Johnny Griffin, recording with André Hodeir (the famous " Anna livia plurabelle" with Jean-Luc Ponty and Michel Portal between-others), Stephan Grappelli (recording), the " trio Michel Roques" with initially Henri Texier, then Benoit Charvet and then Patrice Caratini with the Double bass (in total 7 discs, of which " Safari" receives the " price Django Reinhardt 1969"), Stuff Smith (recording " live" with Jan Hammer in Prague), Dexter Gordon, Hank Mobley, Joe Henderson, Badly Waldron (disc in trio with Caratini), Clark Terry & Ernie Wilkins (recording of disc to the festival of Montreux in 1969), Teddy Wilson, Barney Kessel, " Swingers" and much of others. It records its last disc " Organ" on OPEN with Marc Fosset and Patrice Official receptions in Paris in June 1978, France for Germany in 1977 leaves already when he dies of a disease of the heart.

Forgotten beater whose contribution to the modern jazz in France in the Sixties is not with sum of money. Beautiful striking with the cimbales, melody solos with much of elegance. Respected by the beaters Kenny Clarke, max Roach, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones of which it lends itself certain ideas.
