free Maine is a French regional newspaper, whose seat is with the Mans (the Sarthe). It radiates primarily on the department of the the Sarthe and part of the South of the department of the Flowering ash.
Its first number is appeared the August 9th 1944. First daily newspaper of the Sarthe, free Maine account today three editions (Large Mans, the High Sarthe and the Sarthe Dormouse). It employs 42 journalists.
Independent until 1948, it entered the Amaury group which resold it in Socpresse (Robert Harrowing) in 1992, before being repurchased in December 2005 by the Groupe Ouest-France. Chairman: Jean-Luc Monjaret (since 2006); editor association: Raymond Maudet (since 1994).
Two supplements accompany the newspaper in end of the week: TV Magazine saturdays, Fémina version Sunday.
