- Discovered Madeira by Portuguese João Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira. According to Jean Descola, the first newcomers put fire at the forests. The fire lasts seven years. After which, they plant in ash the Canne with sugar and the Vigne.

- Fondation of the monastery Dge-lugs-Pa of Will be close to Lhassa.

Bohemia
- July 22nd: In Bohemia, great meeting of the Hussite S with Tábor. The king Wenceslas request the banishment of the priests Utraquiste S (Hussites) and the closing of their Churches.
- July 31st: The Défenestration of Prague, led by Jan Žižka, of the advisers of the emperor to the town hall marks the rupture with the Empire.
- August 16th: The insurrection bursts when Wenceslas dies. The Sophie queen becomes regent. After a few days of riot, it grants to Hussites the communion under the two species and the right to preach the Gospel with their manner (November 13rd). Sigismond of Luxembourg, brother of Wenceslas, leaves the vacant throne and refuses very compromised (the country is controlled by the diet).

- January 19th: Rouen goes to the English after six months of seat.
- January 30th: By letters patent delivered “in its good town of Rouen”, the king d' Angleterre Henri V, which says “ Henri, king d' Angleterre and of France ”, give to an English knight, Christopher Curwen, the castle and the ground of Cany-Caniel with the field which depends on it in the bailliage on Caux, which belonged to the duke Jean II of Alençon and to his sister Catherine, duchess of Bavaria.
- July 11th: Oath of Pouilly. Jean without Peur tries to approach the dolphin Charles.
- September 10th: Assassination of Jean without Fear, duke of Burgundy, with Montereau, by Tanguy of Châtel and Jean Louvet, men of the dolphin. His/her son Philippe the Good takes the party of the king Henri V of England and supports the claims of Henri V against the Armagnac party related to king de France.

April 5th: Holy Vincent Ferrier Dominican preacher Spanish (born with Valence (Spain) in 1357), with Valves, during a mission in Brittany.
- August 16th: Wenceslas IV, king of Bohemia.
- September 10th: Assassination of Jean without Fear, duke of Burgundy.
- Tsong-kha-Pa, reforming monk Tibetan (born in 1357), founder of the “yellow” lamaïsme. Master of the Amdo come from the central Tibet, his school takes the name of Dge-lugs-Pa, “the Virtuous ones”, and takes again the lesson, fallen in disuse, of the Kadampa. Its success is considerable.
- Malik Ibrahim with Java, whose tradition makes an apostle of the Islam. It is probably a merchant come from Perse or Western coast of the India, enriched by the trade by the spices, which tried in vain to convert the emperor of the Majapahit.
