Didier Julia is a man Politique French, born the February 18th 1934 with Paris, appointed Seine-et-Marne. It is mainly known general public for its interventions in the businesses of release of French hostages held in Iraq following the American invasion of 2003.

Biography

Resulting from the family Larousse, he is arts, aggregate doctor of philosophy and former professor of the universities. He is of conviction gaullist.

Since 1967, it is elected without interruption appointed of the Second district of Seine-et-Marne. It belongs to the group RPR, then UMP.

In 1981, it is opposed to abolition Capital punishment. In 1998, it is in favor of the acceptance of the voices of FN within the District council of Ile-de-France.

Didier Julia received in December 2006 again the UMP nomination for the legislative of June 2007. Elected at the conclusion of the second turn, it starts his 41e year with the National Assembly, thus confirming her statute of senior of mandate.

Didier Julia answers while describing, on Europe 1 and to the tv news of TF1, the French diplomacy as being “in blue” and arises as being the scapegoat of its failure. It is the beginning of the Affaire Julia.

March 1st 2005 a video cassette was discovered in Iraq where the journalist Frenchwoman Florence Aubenas, taken as an hostage since the January 5th 2005, called upon “Mr Julia” to save it. Didier Julia stated to want to place itself at the disposal of that the sanctions which aim it as its fellow-members are raised. After her release in June 2005, Florence Aubenas declared that the call to Didier Julia had been made at the request of its kidnappers in order to obtain publicity. However, Marc Fauchoux, journalist with Canal+ - I-TV, establishes well the reality of the role of Didier Julia and his team in her work Iraq, Histoire secret of the release of the hostages , published with the editions Hugo Doc.

Anecdote

Contrary to a spread idea, Didier Julia speaks only some words about Arab. Endowed with a very musical ear, it spent several times on the Arab television channels and always finished its interventions by Arabic sentences whom it had memorized and was able to say without reading notes, from where the rumor according to which it would usually speak literary Arabic. It would have however started to learn Arabic since the businesses from hostages.
