Frederic of Low-Lotharingie
Frederic of Luxembourg , born towards 1003, dead the May 18th 1065, was count of Malmedy in 1035, then duke of Low-Lotharingie of 1046 with 1065. It was wire of Frederic of Luxembourg, lord of Gleiberg and of Ermentrude, rams of Gleiberg, and grandson of Sigefroy, count de Luxembourg.
Biography
As wire junior, it had few prospects to have a very high position. But Gothelon Ier, basic duke and of High-Lotharingie, the House of the Ardennes, died in 1044. If Godefroy II succeeded his/her father into High-Lotharingie, the situation of the Low-Lotharingie and less clear. Certain historians mention another son, Gothelon II, which would have succeeded his/her father and would have died in 1046, of other say that the emperor Henri III did not name a holder for the duchy. In any case, Godefroy II, irritated not to have also received the Lowone, revolted in 1046. Overcome the Highone will be withdrawn to him and entrusted to Adalbert of Alsace, but Godefroy continued the fight. He died whereas he was in war against the archbishop of Cologne. Ida will remariera with Albert III, count de Namur. The emperor Henri IV, will give the Lowone to Godefroy II the Bearded one.
Marriages and child
He married in first weddings Gerberge († v.1049), girl of Eustace Ier count de Boulogne, from which he had a girl, Jutta, married to Waléran, count d' Arlon.It remaria towards 1055 with Ida († 1102), which seems to be girl of Bernard II, duke of Saxony.
