Biography

Frederic de Hohenstaufen , known as Frederic One-eyed the still named Frederic II of Hohenstaufen or Frederic II of Souabe (1090 - † 1147), succeeds his/her father Frederic Ier de Souabe in 1105 and becomes duke of Souabe.
In 1120, it Marie with Judith (1100 - † 1132), girl of the duke Henri IX Black of the powerful family of the Welfs.
With died in 1125 of his/her uncle the emperor Henri V of the Holy roman Empire, Frederic becomes candidate for the title of King of the Romans. Although it profits from the support of sound younger brother Conrad de Souabe and several families, it loses this election with the profit of Lothaire II which becomes even emperor in 1133.
According to the historian Othon de Freising, “Frederic was a knight so faithful to his sovereign and a friend so useful to his uncle that by valiancy, it supported the honor of the staggering kingdom, fighting courageously against his enemies. ”
