Frederic Ward Putnam

Frederic Ward Putnam is a ichtyologist, a Naturaliste, a archeologist and an American administrator , born the April 16th 1839 with Salem and dead the August 14th 1915 with Cambridge (Massachusetts).
It makes its studies with the Université of Harvard under Louis Agassiz (1807-1873) of 1856 to 1864. In parallel, he is assistant (1856-1864) with the Museum off Comparative Zoology where he deals with the Poisson S and conservative of the Vertébré S (1856-1867) in Essex Institute de Salem. In 1859, it becomes preserving off of Ichtyologie to the Boston Society Natural History, function which it preserves until in 1868.
It off directs Essex Institute of 1864 to 1870 as well as the Museum East India Marine Society of 1867 to 1869.
From 1867 to 1874, he is the founder and the first director of Peabody Academy off Science. From 1876 to 1878, attending in ichtyology the Museum off Comparative Zoology, then preserving of 1875 to 1909 of Peabody Museum off American Archeology and Ethnology of the university of Harvard.
It founds the American Naturalist in 1867 and The Naturalist' S Directory in 1865.
He plays a very great part in the foundation and the organization of natural history musea and department of natural history and anthropology, as well as their respective publications. He is regarded as the father of American archeology.
