Frederic Pujulà I Vallés
Frederic Pujulà I Vallés (Palamós, 1877 - Bargemon, 1962) was a journalist, a dramatic author and a impassioned esperantist. Activist catalanist and pioneer of Esperanto in Catalonia, it defended these two causes in the Universal Congrès of Esperanto in Geneva in 1906 and Barcelona in 1909 (from which it chaired the organization) and to the Sorbonne where he gave conferences and course. He intervened by making speeches, by publishing many articles in various Catalan press agencies and esperantists and by writing, playing and putting in scene monologs and plays. He travelled through Europe and remained a long time in Paris. He took part in Joventut (1900-1906), best re-examined the “modernistic one” of Catalogne. He was a voluntary combatant of the First World War (1914-1918), in the French Army. He chose French nationality besides to escape persecutions from the Spanish state which continued it because of its activism catalanist. In 1939 it will be the subject of a death sentence commuted to life imprisonment, of which it will carry out only two years before being released for health reason. Withdrawn of the public life, he dies in exile with Bargemon in the VAr.
He wrote “Artificials Homes” which is the first news of Science-fiction written as a Catalan. He was published in 1912, by Biblioteca Joventut , in Barcelona. Doctor Pericart wants to create a desocialized and perfect new business. Transformed into demigod it creates a group of androïdes individualized, which will be the germs of a new business.
