Frederic Martel is a French writer and journalist. It is more particularly known for the works the Pink and the Black, the Homosexual ones in France since 1968 (Threshold, 1996) and, more recently, Of the Culture in America (Gallimard, 2006).
Biography

Frederic Martel is doctor in Sociologie. He was: chief of the office of the book to the embassy of France in Romania (1990-1992), operations manager at the department of the international businesses of the Ministry for the Culture (1992-1993), adviser of the former Prime Minister Michel Rocard (1993-1994), then editor association of the intellectual review of the CFDT (1995-1997, near Nicole Notat). It was then adviser technical with the cabinet of the Minister for Employment and Solidarity, Martine Aubry (1997-2000), researcher with EHESS and to advise of the president of the EHESS, Jacques Revel (2000-2001), and more recently attached cultural to the embassy of France in the United States (2001-2005).

Collaborator of various newspapers and re-examined ( the literary Magazine , the Express train , Said , The Nation , Haaretz , Esprit , etc), he is also producer/presenter with France Culture (emission Critical mass), and director of the drafting of the site of criticism of the books and ideas nonfiction.fr, launched in October 2007. It gave conferences in various large American universities and is cofounder (with Martin Hirsch) of the new Agence of active solidarity. He teaches with Science-Po Paris. He was one of the joint editors of the report/ratio of Michel Rocard over the numerical in April 2007, report submitted to Ségolène Royal.
