Frederic Kakon
Frederic Kakon is a French guitarist, born on September 19th 1973 from a family of musicians (father beater, mother singer).
Biography
FK is very early immersed in the environment of the vinyls Jazz and jazz-rock'n'roll that his/her father makes ravel on the platines.
A disc particularly makes him effect, it is that of the beater Billy Cobham " Eclipse" total;. It is initiated with the battery as of the old one 8 years. But the young person Fred does not want to make music and prefers to them mathematics (what can appear curious). It is only at 15 years that one as of his/her classmates lends a cassette to him which all will change: " Surfing with the alien" of the guitarist Joe Satriani.
From this moment, to include/understand how one can go also quickly on a Guitare without being mistaken becomes an obsession. It spends its spare time to play and repeat inlassablement the Solo S but without really drawing substantial the moëlle.
from it
It then decides to be plunged in the books to include/understand the theory and the Harmonie. Its leaning for mathematics encourages it to constitute a method of apprentissage.
gradually
After 4 years to listen to mainly instrumental Rock'n'roll and pop through the Signal 50, it starts to be interested in the jazz-rock'n'roll and more precisely in the guitarist virtuoso of the mythical group Chick Corea Electrik Band: Frank Gambale .
It is the great discovery with the complex harmonies of the jazz. As for Joe Satriani, it foams the discography of the creator of the Sweeping and is seriously caught the head on the way in which the agreements are arranged. Still 4 years to pass to include/understand and develop its technique. A third guitarist then will come to him in aide.
By one misty Sunday morning of April, his/her father makes him view a Video cassette recorded the day before at the evening. It is about the emission of Philippe Adler Jazz 6 devoted to the American guitarist Pat Metheny. This emission corresponds in fact to the DVD More Travels.
Day at the following day, it gives up distortions and other parasiteux effects, arises the traditional good old guitar of dad and discovers the terribly melody world of Pat Metheny. He becomes a true fan, created a Web site with statements of agreements of his pieces (which gained one big hit in the community Web stammering the Nineties) and is interested more and more in the jazz known as traditional and the music brésilienne.
During all these years of training (which will never stop so much the jazz is rich of teaching) and in parallel of its studies of engineer (Math Sup and Spé and EISTI), FK composes more and more. In 1997, it founds its first group, trio FMR in company of the bass player Michel Caradec and the beater Régis Acierno. This first trio (which will become a four-bit byte with the addition of the pianist Francis Coquide) becomes a laboratory with compositions. Those are characterized by complex rhythmic cuttings (rates/rhythms odd) and veins mélodique.
During the year 2000, it meets Martin Bacot. This young organist improviser of traditional formation resulting from the academy thus launches out with Frederic in the jazz without knowing anything there. Consequently the objective to create a second Stalemate Metheny Group with the tendencies more progressive Rock is felt and soon group YDIKWA is made up. A Guitar, a low (Yann Morhain), two synthés (Martin and Francis), a beater (Governed) and a percussionnist (Antoine Akakpo) tries a fusion or all the instrumental styles are represented. The precision is not always with the height of the requirement of the complex music of Ydikwa, but the group bursts and receives a reception more than enthusiastic of the public. After many concerts (in particular on the barge of the ball to the jump in Paris) the group sépare.
Wishing to break with the large formations and pushed arrangements, it joined a friend guitarist Cédric Baud and rearranges its compositions for two guitars. That enables him to be focused on the accompaniment, thing which was reserved for the rhythm section in its old groupes.
In 2002, it decides to jump the step and launches out in the Jam session of the club of Parisian jazz the Kiss Salted. This evening there it is not the traditional percussionnist François Constantin who organizes the jam, but a young person professional pianist of great talent: Franck Monbaylet. As of the first piece, the agreement between the two musicians is magic but it is necessary some more to bore in the universe pro. At this point in time at the conclusion of the jam, he proposes in Franck to carry out his site web.
to him
A friendship is born then between the two musicians but the hour not yet had not just played together. In parallel Frederic meets on his work place a pianist amateur Stephan Ramponi. They sympathize and start to repeat together with the addition of the beater Christophe Rudtman and the bass player Pascal Valley. It is at the time of a repetition which they learn that the singer Thierry Arnaud needs in urgency for a group for a concert with the auditorium for Saint-Germain-of-Meadows. In 4 days they learn the repertory and the two dates in the concert are a true triumph. Thierry particularly notices this young guitarist and proposes to him to take part in another project which is due to him to cœur.
This project consists in taking again the pieces of the large Belgian singer Jacques Brel and to pass them to the moulinette jazz. For Frederic Kakon, it is the occasion to play with musicians of reputation like the beater Claude Salmieri, the Accordéon ist Marc Berthoumieux, the saxophonist Eric Séva, the bass player Dominique Bertram and the pianist… Franck Monbaylet. This album should be available end 2005.
It is at this time that the complicity of Frederic Kakon and Franck becomes obvious. They decide to assemble their own four-bit byte by sticking the services of immense the Dominique Bertram with the Contrebasse and of not less immense the Thierry Chauvet to the battery. After several Concert S with the salted Kiss, they record their first album which is currently available on the http://www.fredkakon.com site.
In margin of this activity of instrumentalist, Frederic Kakon is also impassioned for the teaching of the music through the guitar and endeavors to adapt its method to make it possible to the beginners to learn how to learn and become autonomous.
