Biography
In 1622 Frederic Ier de Hesse accepted the landgravat of Hesse-Homburg. Into 1768, the territory was divided into two landgravats Hesse-Homburg, Hesse-Homburg-Bingenheim. With died of his/her younger brother Guillaume de Hesse-Homburg occurred in 1681 both landgravats were joined together according to the rules of succession.
Frederic Ier de Hesse-Hombourg was the founder of the line of Hesse-Homburg, third branch of the House of Hesse.
Frederic Ier de Hesse-Homburg belonged to the line of Hesse-Homburg, this third branch is resulting from the line of Hesse-Darmstadt, this second branch is resulting from the elder branch of the Maison of Hesse. These three branches result from the elder branch of the House of the Brabant.
