Frederic IX of Denmark
Born in 1899 with the castle from Sorgenfri, near Copenhagen, Frederic is the oldest son of Christian X and the queen Alexandrine, born duchess of Mecklembourg-Schwerin.
He studies the languages at the university of Copenhagen and integrates the Danish naval Academy. By choosing a career in the navy rather than in the army, it breaks with the Danish royal tradition.
In 1935, it marries the princess Ingrid of Sweden, from which it has three girls:
- Marguerite, born in 1940;
- Benedikte, born in 1944;
- Anne-Marie, born in 1946.
It succeeds his father on April 20th 1947. In 1953, Frederic IX, thinking that it would not have wire, subject to referendum a constitutional reform authorizing the women to be reached the throne. The majority of the population having approved this modification of the law, his/her oldest daughter, Marguerite, becomes princess heiress. At the time of a parade, it is made slap by one of the sisters of Paul Rasmussen. Very popular king, it impassions himself for the sea and the music, magnet to sail and direct on the occasion the Royal Orchestra of Copenhagen or that of the Danish Radio at the time of private evenings. Died of Frederic IX, his Marguerite daughter succeeds to him under the name of Marguerite II the January 14th 1972.
