Frederic Dumas was born on January 14th 1913 with Albi.

Of 1945 with 1965, he was also civil collaborator of the Grouping of Research Underwater (GRS) of the National marine, created by Cousteau and Taillez and become a little later the G.E.R.S. (Groupe of Studies and Underwater Research).

It will be one of the main actors of the rescue of the Bathyscaphe of Professor Jacques Piccard, FNRS II during the forwarding of 1949 with Dakar. Thanks to this rescue, the National marine will be able to re-use the sphere of the bathyscaphe to carry out FNRS III.

After its retirement of this organization, it was devoted in particular to Underwater Archeology and will chair the Archéologie commission of the world Confédération of the subaqueous activities (CMAS) and of the French federation of studies and underwater sports (FFESSM). Frederic Dumas is deceased on July 26th 1991 with Toulon at the 78 years age.
