Frederic Bazille
Frederic Bazille , December 6th 1841 with Montpellier - November 28th 1870 with Beaune-the-Rolande was a painter French.
Biography
Born in a family from the Protestant middle-class of Montpellier, it begins studies of medicine to give pleasure with his parents. But the vocation is pressing: since 1859, it follows courses of drawing and painting in the workshop of the Baussan sculptor. In 1862, it leaves to settle in Paris where it is registered with the workshop of the painter Charles Gleyre under the councils of his cousin painter Eugene Castelneau. Consequently he will be painter. In this workshop it meets Claude Monet then Auguste Renoir. Very quickly, a group is formed which integrates Edgar Degas, Alfred Sisley, Edouard Manet, Berthe Morisot, Paul Cézanne, Camille Pissarro, Emile Zola, Paul Verlaine…
More favoured than they, it will divide its various workshops with Renoir and Monet since 1865. It generally spends the summer to Montpellier and the remainder of the year to Paris. As from 1866, it is present at the Art gallery of Paris, without much success. Its pallet is cleared up and is coloured.
In August 1870, it engages in a regiment of zouaves. It is killed, at 29 years, the combat of Beaune-the-Rolande. The first exposure of the Impressionnistes, where several of its fabrics will be exposed, will take place in 1874, four years after its death.
