Frederic Barber
Frederic Barbier is a historian of the French book, born in 1952
Course
Archivist paleographer (1976), Frederic Barbier is the author of a thesis of the École of the charters entitled Nouvelles research on printing works of Strasbourg (1676-1830) . It supports then a doctorate in history and is doctor d' arts État and social sciences.
At his exit of the School of the charters, Frederic Barbier is preserving classified Public library of Valencian.
He however quickly leaves the conservation to become researcher at CNRS and teaching at the practical School of the high studies, section of historical and philological sciences. He was director of the French historical center of Göttingen, and occupied during two years, as a delegation, the post of professor in history of the book of the Enssib. He continues and looks further into the searchs for Henri-Jean Martin, of which he is the pupil and of which he took again the pulpit with the EPHE.
He is today Research director with the CNRS (Institute of history of the contemporary world, Ulm National university) and director of studies to the practical École of the high studies. He is deputy manager of the Center Gabriel Naudé, research center in history of the book which joins together the Enssib and the EPHE. Author of many books, he was editor association of the French Revue of history of the book ; he is today editor association of Histoire and age of the book: international review created in 2005.
