Frederic Antoine Marie Golstein , born with the castle of Bréel, Department of Roër, the August 17th 1789, military French.
Consulate and Empire
It was accepted at 15 years at the Military academy, from where it left, in 1806, second lieutenant with the 1 {{er}} regiment of infantry of Berg. The following year, it entered the hunters to horse (cavalry), was distinguished in the campaigns from Poland and Germany, and was sent in Spain with the rank of captain.
The August 7th 1811, it surprised, with hundred horses, 350 men of Spanish cavalry, killed 70, and brought back sixty prisoners out of them.
The March 22nd of the same year, a recognition, it entered night, only, in the village of Guedroza, to know if it were occupied, is lived surrounded by twelve men and an officer whom it killed out of a blow of saber in answer to his summation, and charging the soldiers by calling his small troop, it made them put the weapons low.
After being itself still distinguished in several businesses, it was decorated and named major. It obtained letters of naturalization in 1813; he is count of the Saint Empire.
Golstein made, in 1813 and 1814, the campaigns of Saxony and France, then adopted the Bourbon S which it did not give up during the Hundred Days.
Restoration
Returned in the hunters of the royal Guard, it was created lieutenant-colonel in 1817, and Chevalier of Saint-Louis in 1820. It made the Expédition of Spain (1823) in the hunters with horse of the the Dordogne and was decorated with the Ordre of Saint-Ferdinand.
In 1828, it passed from the hunters in the hussard S of the royal Guard, was laid off in 1830, and put in leave pay with the patent of colonel.
Monarchy of July
In 1831, it was attached to the staff of the marshal Gerard, during the Campagne of Belgium.
The January 5th 1832, it took the command of the 13 {{E}} hunters (become 7 {{E}} lancers) and was successively named commander of the Légion of honor and officer of the Ordre of Léopold.
The April 26th 1841, it was promoted with the Brigadier general rank of , and, little time, put afterwards of availability, then finally with the retirement.
