Frederic, hereditary prince of Denmark
The prince Frederic , born the October 11th 1753 with Copenhagen, deceased the December 7th 1805 in Copenhagen.
He was a hereditary prince of the Denmark.
Family
Only son surviving of the second marriage of the king Frederic V of Denmark with Juliane Marie of Brunswick, it was physically handicapped.
Marriage and descent
He married in 1774 Sophie Frederique de Mecklenbourg-Schwerin (1758-1794), (Girl of Christian Louis II of Mecklembourg-Schwerin).
He had like children:
- the king Christian VIII of Denmark (1786-1848);
- hereditary prince Ferdinand (1792-1863), in 1829, it married Caroline of Denmark (1793 - 1881), (girl of Frederic VI of Denmark);
- Juliane Sophie (1788-1850), wife in 1812 the landgrave Guillaume de Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld ((† 1834)
- Louise Charlotte (1789-1864), wife in 1710, the landgrave Guillaume de Hesse-Cassel-Rumpenheim ((† 1867).
Biography
His/her half-brother the king Christian VII of Denmark having become mentally disturbed, Frederic became regent in 1772 at the eighteen years age, to replace the queen Caroline Mathilde, exiled. its regency was only nominal, the capacity remaining in the hands of his/her mother Juliane Marie and her minister Ove Høegh-Guldberg.
There remained regent until 1784, when the crown prince Frederic, future Frederic VI of Denmark, seized regency at sixteen years.
Genealogy
Frederic of Denmark belongs to the first branch of the Maison of Oldenbourg This line gave kings to the Sweden, the Norway, the Denmark, it died out in 1863 with the death of Frederic VII of Denmark.
