Biography

As of 1918, under the pseudonym of Villard, it sings in the Cabaret S. Towards 1924 - 1925, it takes again its name Fred Gouin .

Gradually, it is made a name in the song with titles like: " The hour exquise" , " The widow joyeuse" , " Mary Lou" , " Charmaine" , " The girl of Bédouin" , " She dances the charleston" , " Pinks of Picardie" , " Marie-Rose" , " Small the chapeau" and " She lost her pantalon".

It is in 1928, that he sings a song of 1866, " The time of the cerises" of Antoine Renard and Jean-Baptiste Clement. It was an immense success. One speaks about 400.000 copies: almost never considering. A very great interpretation, Fred is launched!

It continued with: " The song of corns of or" , " The red handkerchief of Cholet" , " The song of the heures" , " The old man mendiant" , " It is this evening or jamais" , " The heart of the roses" and one of its more famous titles: L. Wolfe Gilbert “Cleaned” translated and adapted into French by Saint-Granier, Jean the Silky one and Albert Willemetz however created by Saint-Granier.

The war bursts in 1939, the couple taken refuge with Marseilles. They obtain few contracts, it spend their money! Berthe dies in 1941, mined by drink and poverty. Its recording company finances funerals. A few years later, its skin is tranférée in the common grave since nobody renewed the concession!

A legend wants that Fred threw on his tomb an immense sheaf of white pinks, as the title of the song fetish of his/her friend, for then from going away only!

From this date, until in 1980, nobody knew what it occurs of him.

Today, we know that Fred went up towards Niort where it was recycled in the trade of the Frites. It mourrut the February 18th 1959.
