Franz Viehböck

Franz Viehböck (born the August 24th 1960 with Vienna) is an electric engineer Austrian, and the first spationaut of its nationality.

Biography

He was selected for the space project Soviet-Austrian Austromir 91 at the same time as Clemens Lothaller.

Flight carried out

After two years of formation it was selected for the mission Soyuz TM-13, and flies away Cosmodrome de Baïkonour the October 2nd 1991 with the Russian cosmonauts Alexander A. Volkov and Kazakh the Toktar Aubakirov.

On board the space station Mir, he undertook in company of the cosmonauts Anatoly Artsebarsky and Sergei Krikalev 15 experiments in the fields of space medicine, the physics and technologies of space.
Viehböck is turned over on ground the October 10th in the capsule Soyuz TM-12 after 7 days and 22 hours spent in space.

The two following years it held of many conferences on the mission, then went to the United States and worked for Rockwell. At the time of the repurchase of Rockwell by Boeing, it became " Director for the development of the trade international" in Vienna.
