Franz Unger

Franz Joseph Andreas Nicolaus Unger is a Botaniste, a paleontologist and a specialist in the vegetable Physiologie Austrian, born the November 30th 1800 in Styrie, Austria and dead the February 13rd 1870 with Graz.

Unger studies the right to the university of Graz before being directed, in 1820 worms of the studies of Médecine at the university of Vienna. In 1822, it studies at the university of Prague before returning to Vienna the following year. It obtains its title of doctor of medicine in 1827.

It then practices medicine with Stockerau close to Vienna then starting from 1830, as doctor of court, in Kitzbühel in the the Tyrol. In 1836, he becomes professor of Botanique at the university of Graz, in 1850, professor of vegetable physiology in Vienna. He undertakes in 1852 a voyage in the north of the Europe and in the East. He takes his retirement in 1866 and settles close to Graz.

Unger is interested initially in the Paléontologie before being devoted to physiology.
