Franz Roubaud
Franz Alekseyevich Roubaud (1856-1928), is a Russian painter which created some of largest and of the most known panoramic frescos.
It was born the June 15th 1856 with Odessa where it followed the school from art from the city. In 1877 he left for Germany or he studied with the Académie of Munich. He settled then with Saint-Petersbourg, working with the imperial academy of arts and painting gigantic panoramic paintings of historical battles - Seat of Achulgo (1896, Tiflis, does not exist any more), Siège of Sébastopol (1854) (revealed in 1905, damaged during the battle of Sébastopol (1942), restored in the Fifties) and Bataille of Borodino (1911, moved on the Mont Poklonnaya with Moscow in 1962). Its works were so large that they were to be exposed in buildings especially built for them. In 1913, Roubaud left Russia for Munich, where he died the March 13rd 1928.
