Franz Mazura
Franz Mazura (born the April 22nd 1924 with Salzburg) is a Baritone-low Austrian. Always active at 82 years completed, it is one of the most durable singers of opera of the history.
Mazura made its studies with Detmold and began with Cassel in 1949. After having sung with Mainz, Brunswick and Mannheim, it began with the Festival from Salzburg in 1960, with the opera of Berlin in 1961, with the Festival of Bayreuth in 1971, with the opera of Hamburg in 1973; he also sang with the Opéra of State of Vienna, with the Metropolitan Opera, the Opéra of Paris, the Scala, the Teatro Colón.
Because of her stamp serious and threatening and sharp clearness of her diction, Franz Mazura was very appreciated as interprets roles of malicious opera of the XIXe century and XXe starting century: Gift Pizarro, Alberich, Klingsor, Scarpia… But it is as an interpreter of roles more modern than it reached his greater glory: it was unforgettable a Moïse and Wozzeck.
