Franz Grillparzer (January 15th 1791 with Vienna - January 21st 1872 with Vienna) was a Austrian Dramaturge .

Partial biography

Grillparzer was born son from Juriste, studied the Droit to the university and began in 1813 training as a from concept to the room of the imperial court, in the Austrian Public service. In 1821, it postulated without success for the place of the Skriptors in the imperial private library. It became finally in 1823 Hofkonzipist , and in 1832, director of the imperial files.

Its years of education coincide at the time of the French revolution and with the Napoleonean time, whose influences were kept away. This is due, in addition to the fact of being in Austria, with the traditions of the leaders of the time. Grillparzer was rather preserving, but nevertheless felt the contradictory mental pressure, the reaction of the culture of the time.

There remained promised in marriage all its life to its young love, Katharina Fröhlich, without according to its own consent " to have the courage of the mariage"

It was an anxious pessimist, conscious of the vanity of the human actions, happiness like glory. A kind of resigned wisdom makes him accept the world as it goes, not without a certain amount of misanthropy. Its merits were recognized in the last years of its life, it was thus named in of 1847 member of the Imperial Academy and in 1864 citizen of honor of the town of Vienna. He dies on January 21st, 1872 at the 81 years age.
