Frans Krajcberg is a painter, sculptor and engineer, born in Poland the April 12th 1921.

It makes its studies of engineer and art at the university of Leningrad. It gives up them to integrate the Polish army during the Second world war.

After the war, he moves in Germany and between with the Academy of the Art schools of Stuttgart. For this period, he studies with Willi Baumeister, which gives to him a letter of introduction for Fernand Leger to Paris. He remains there for 6 months and with the assistance of Chagall, embarks for the Brésil in 1948. It arrives at Rio de Janeiro, but remains only a few days there, before being established with São Paulo in 1951. It presents its works to it to the first Biennial one of São Paulo, the Living room Paulista Modern art and the Domus Gallery.

In 1952, it settles in the State of Paraná and, after having been engineer in a factory of paper, it is devoted to painting. It settles again in 1956 with Rio de Janeiro and division its workshop with the sculptor Franz Weissmann. In 1958, it takes Brazilian nationality. even year, Krajcberg takes part in IVe Biennale of Sao Paulo and receives the price of Best Brazilian painter. At that time, it shares its life between Paris, Ibiza and Rio de Janeiro.

In 1964, it installs in the open air its workshop with Cata Banca, State of Minas Gerais. It uses stones and blocks of manganese and built its first sculptures with tree trunks died. He travels to Amazonia and in Pantanal de Mato-Grosso to photograph, to record them images of deforestation, and to collect elements to feed its work, like roots and of the trunks flarings.
