Frankie Knuckles
Frankie Warren Knuckles Jr (born the January 18th 1955 in the Bronx with New York) is a Disc producing jockey and American. It is known under the title of Parrain of the House music .
After studies of designer, it becomes DJ in 1971 and joins in various clubs Larry Levan. It makes its beginnings like DJ in Continental Baths, kind of Center Park dedicated to the gay hedonism. In 1977, Frankie Knuckles settles with Chicago where it becomes DJ resident of the Warehouse club of 1977 with 1982. In 1983, it founds its own club, The Power Plant.
In the middle of the Eighties, it takes part in the explosion of the movement house in Chicago thanks to its individual Your Love , Baby Wants to Ride , You Got the Love or Angel . It acquiet on this occasion the nickname of " Godfather off house". In 1987, Frankie Knuckles returns to New York and founds Def Mix Productions with David Morales. It then rents its services with Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Inner City or Chaka Khan. In 1991, it signs a contract with Virgin and leaves its 1st album Beyond the Mix . Follow Welcome to the Real World (1995), Fatty Tuesday (2001), Motivation (2002) and New Reality (2004).
The legend claims that he would have invented the House. In 1985, whereas it is resident Warehouse club in Chicago, it inaugurates a new way of using the discs, since in addition to connecting them, it will take the party to mix them together, to use the sampling and finally to give birth without the knowledge to the house. " And house music was born" stress then Fingers Inc (aka Larry Heard). One cannot however allot this invention to him only, other DJs having taken part in this adventure, like Marshall Jefferson, Steve Hurley, Tony Humphries, Ron Hardy, Larry Heard, Jesse Saunders or Vince Lawrence.
