The franc is the monetary unit under the French revolution.

Before the Revolution

The monetary unit under the Ancien Mode was delivers it, sometimes called “frankly”. This one was divided into under and into sums of money, twelve sums of money making a penny and twenty pennies making a book. The ecu of money was worth six books, the louis of gold twenty-four books.
